Every time I pick up an Alice Tribue book, I know I'm going to get a story that is compelling and fascinating and this book is no exception. I loved getting to Max and Emelia. They each have deep seated issues that have shaped them into the people they are today. Despite that, they know they have something special that needs to nurtured and cultivated. They are both strong-willed and fiercely independent individuals. Together, there is nothing that can stop them. They grow and become stronger together, they share a love like no other.
I enjoyed this book immensely. This is a contemporary romance that will bewitch the reader and keep them reading until the end. I love Alice's work and this book has quickly become one my favorites of hers.

I was captivated with the story from the first page. Max was an a** in every sense of the word. A twist of fate leaves him as the single parent of Xander, a child he never planned on having. Enter Emelia, a new neighbor who sees him as the ass he is, only to discover there is more to the story - and the man - than either realized. The author does a compelling job of nurturing character development, especially with Max. Part of that development comes through an amazing cast of supporting characters, namely Keri and his boss. Emelia is pretty amazing, too, especially as the story evolves and her relationship with Max grows. One goes from truly disliking Max to cheering him on and hoping he realizes what everyone else is figuring out - he's a pretty good guy down deep and just deserves a chance. Fast forward through meeting Emelia's family, the resulting insecurities once Max realizes Emelia is rich, and dealing with the terror at the hands of her former boyfriend, and you have a match made in heaven.
WOW!!!! Just WOW!!! I love Alice Montalvo-Tribue books. I have read everyone and they are all good, great even. This one....was fantastic! I don't even know where to begin in telling you how great it was. Of course the writing is great. She has a way of pulling you into the story and I never really know what is going to happen. Pieces of Him was no different. It had me hanging on to every word.
Ok, so I'll start with the characters. Max was the main character and he was a JERK! Big huge arrogant ass. He was cocky and thought he was God's gift to woman. I really hated him and thought if I was Keri I would have punched him, kicked him in his balls, and then left never to return again. Who is Keri? Well, she was a sweet girl, maybe a little desperate but sweet. She has just a "small" part in this book (you will see what I mean when you read it) and yet a very huge part too. Then there is Emelia or Em. I loved her! She was sweet, big heart, and a little spitfire too. She was not afraid to tell Max he was being an ass.
The story will rip your heart out and leave you a puddle of emotions on the floor then fill you with love again. Filled with love, jealousy, happiness, and sadness this story will have you hooked. By the end of the book I was totally and completely in love with Max. He was still a little cocky but he had a right to be. When you learn his story you see that all he needed was the right people in his life and to be shown what love really is.
A great must read book!
This is the first book I have read which was written by Alice Tribue and it will definitely not be the last one. I was so invested in this book and couldn't read any faster to find out the outcome of how this story would end. This journey was definitely an emotional roller coaster ride.
My initial thought about Max wasn't very good. His character at the beginning of the book wasn't pleasant. TBH, I wish I could choke him. I was hoping that he would eventually change and I loved reading his journey of appreciating life and everything that was thrown his way unexpectedly. I ended up loving him throughout the book and I was rooting for him to be able to overcome the past.
I instantly loved Emelia's character. I loved that she was so giving and always wanting to help even though her first encounter with Max didn't go so well. She was always willing to go above and beyond.
Overall, I loved this book and definitely would recommend it. I loved that it was written in dual POV's. For some reason I tend to love books a little more when we are able to get the male's POV.
The book is very relatable because in life we never know when or why things happen but all we can do is make the best out of what is thrown our way.
