When her son says he and his fiancee want to marry "in the shadow of the Matterhorn," Dotsy Lamb doesn't realize it means she'll be staying in the same remote Swiss chalet as her ex-husband and his new wife. But rather than spoil the young ones' plans, Dotsy puts on a brave face and heads to Switzerland, determined to make the best of it.
Then the new wife turns up dead, and Dotsy is suspect number one. To make matters even worse, the police confiscate the passports of the house guests, so the members of the wedding party are now stuck living together.
With familial conflicts making life complicated inside the house, a glider from a nearby airstrip keeps flying overhead, while a shadowy Russian and a man in red shoes keep popping up. Fortunately, Dotsy's friend Marco, a high ranking Carabinieri official from Italy, arrives to help Dotsy find the real killer and free herself from this not-so-cozy mountain retreat.

I love Dotsy's travel mysteries (or rather Maria Hudgins' travel mysteries). So many places I've never been to except in my imagination and now it's Switzerland...not somewhere on my bucket list but you've tweaked my interest.
With so many possibilities you kept me guessing, I never would have guessed who the murderer was and I like that in a mystery. This sounds like a lovely place to visit - visiting with Dotsy and Letty has been an enjoyable read.

Death of a Second Wife Dotsy Lamb Travel Mysteries Book 4 edition by Maria Hudgins Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

This was just plain fun as a mystery as well as travel guide. Dotsy is a likeable and very believable protagonist traveling to Switzerland to attend her son's wedding. Good pace introducing more characters, good introduction of scenery that adds to reader interest. I will definitely look for more in this series.
Dotsy's son is getting married and the whole family is travelling to Switzerland for the ceremony, including Dotsy's ex-husband. And his new wife. Quite an emotional minefield is not helped by a murder and a storm which isolates the wedding party in the manor where the wedding is to be held. Once again Dotsy, at great personal risk comes to the aid of her family. The story moves quickly and anyone who has a family can understand the dynamics of this one.
This is one review for the first 4 Dotsy Lamb cozy mysteries. Very well written and edited, complex story lines, characters are well developed and quite real. New book is available and I plan to get it soon to continue the adventures of Dotsy, Lettie and Marco. All four of the first books are very readable and enjoyable.
I really enjoy these mysteries. They are well-written, enjoyable, and are especially fun if you've been to the locations. I've read and enjoyed all but the last and am looking forward to reading it soon.
Dotsy Lamb is a comfortable amateur sleuth. By that I mean that she does her sleuthing in a way that isn't intrusive but makes those that she is working with comfortable answering her questions without always realized they are giving her a clue. I liked the setting and I love the interesting layout of surprises on the mountain. It was a good mystery and I will read more by this author.
I have really enjoyed the previous Dotsy Lamb books, but did not like this one as much. It's still a nice, clean cozy mystery, with an interesting setting, I read it to the end, and I did like it. However, I did not consider it up to the standards the author set in her previous books. I skipped a few parts that were boring to me and seemed irrelevant to the story.

The setting (Switzerland) is interesting and I learned a few things about it.

I felt that the characters were not very well drawn, even Dotsy and her friend Letty are kind of shadowy. It's like the author assumed that everyone would know them from previous books. I'm also a little tired of orange juice fixing Dotsy's low blood sugars. In real life that would not work long enough for Dotsy to go off chasing clues for hours.

The mystery itself was okay, but I felt there were some inconsistencies. I don't want to give anything away, so I'm
gong to be very vague about this. There is a "clue" in the story that comes up several times, and seems only to serve the purpose of connecting a character that never has a part in the story, to the mystery. This just seemed kind of unnecessary to me, and I did not feel that it added anything to the book. Also, the motive for murder was kind of nebulous, although that might just be me. I am rarely able to see the end of a mystery coming.

Despite this, I think that you will like this book, if you are a fan of cozy mysteries.
Dotsy Lamb does it again. This time she is in the Alps. Marco was not happy when she left him and Capri but she had to go. After all, her son Patrick was getting married. Unfoturnately, her ex Chet was going to be there with his wife, Stpehanie, who ends up dead. The cook is also killed the same night. First Chet is accused of the murders and Dotsy helps him get out of jail and then she is accused of it. Marco comes to her aid, while her ex is taking a nap. A good read
